PWD Engineer-in Chief issues transfer, posting orders on her retirement eve; Govt rescinds unauthorized directions ab-intio | KNO

Srinagar, July 09 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday rescinded "unauthorized" transfer orders issued by the Engineer-in-Chief (Secretary Technical) of the Public Works (R&B) Department on the eve of her retirement, states an order which is in possession of the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) It states: “ The Office of Engineer In Chief (Secretary Technical), Public Works (R&B) Department has issued transfer and posting vide Order No. PW/EIC/Estab/36 of 2025 dated 17/06/2025).” It read that the above order has been issued in violation of the “Policy on Transfers/Posting of Government Employees of the Government.” The order states the transfer and posting order issued by the Engineer-in-Chief stands rescinded ab-intio. Pertinently, the Engineer-in-Chief, who retired on June 30, 2025, had issued several transfer orders involving engineers and technical staff within the department without the approval of the Competent Authority. "These orders were found to be in violation of the government's transfer policy. Taking serious note of the matter, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary immediately issued directions to the Administrative Department to rescind all such unauthorized orders. In compliance with these directions, the Administrative Department has rescinded Order No. PW/EIC/Estab/36 of 2025 dated June 17, 2025, through Government Order No. 216-PW(R&B) of 2025 dated July 9, 2025. The Deputy CM has also issued firm instructions stating that violations of the government's transfer policy will not be tolerated under any circumstances—(KNO)
